Jura Hotel
The only hotel on the isle of Jura is aptly named – Jura Hotel! It is small, only 18 bedrooms are available and therefor should be booked well in advance. The hotel is fully licensed and offers not only accommodation but also meals. It is located in the main settlement on Jura, Craighouse, and overlooks the bay. Hotel amenities include an own garden, television room, lounge, bar (with bar / pub food available), a restaurant that serves food cooked based on locally sourced products (including seafood!), central heating, tea / coffee making facilities in each room and beautiful views. At the time of writing there was no internet available for hotel guests. In case that this has changed, please contact me and I will update the information. Room sizes available are: One suite with twin beds, private sitting and bathroom; family rooms that can host three or four and double rooms. Most rooms a have sea / bay view. The friendly staff at this family owned hotel is always willing to help you with the booking of activities like fishing, hire boats, tours to special places like the distillery or the Corryvreckan whirlpool and can advice you also on where to find the best places for swimming and seal or bird watching. Even bicycles are available to sportive guests!
Apart of traditional hotel accommodation, Jura Hotel runs also a small, simple camping place with basic facilities like toilets, showers and washing machines.
For whom is Jura Hotel right? If you don’t want to cook your own meals, enjoy a certain level of luxury and like to be in the center of happenings then you should choose Jura Hotel as your accommodation during your stay on the isle. The staff is friendly and helpful and you will always meet some locals in the bar that love to share your knowledge about the island and its history with you.
